U.S. Nuclear Reactor Leaked


U.S. nuclear reactor at San Onofre, near the City of San Diego, was closed after the radiation such a leak. Leaks are not too large. However, local governments fear the leak harmful radiation from the surrounding community.

As reported interaksyon, radioactive gas out of one pipe reactor. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 1 Janusarin 2012.

Unfortunately, the leaking pipe was located in a building that is not airtight. Thus, it is possible radioactive escape into the environment despite the very low levels claimed.

"Radioactive loose it will not pose a danger to society," said the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Victor Driks.

Meanwhile, operators of nuclear reactors California, Southern California Edison Co. (SCE), said it was investigating the exact cause of the incident. The reactor will not be used for the next few days.

To repair the damage, the reactor will be temporarily closed. However, SCE said the energy supply remains safe and adequate to serve the customer. During this time, the San Onofre reactor produces enough energy to meet the needs of 1.4 million homes. (ren)
